Rock Band: What would Sting say?

If you walked by our house on any given night this past week, you would hear the smooth sounds (okay shrieks) of my family playing Rock Band.  You’d hear my 5 year old, sing, “Lock Slam… You don’t need to put on the Red Light” or my 8 year old saying, “Mom, you stink at the guitar – hand it over!”  Oh, the joys of family together time in the modern age.

My kids and I have been pining away for months to buy Rock Band – the latest game for the Wii.  In lieu of going out and buying the game, the kids and I held a garage sale to raise enough funds to make our purchase.  Surprisingly enough, a lot of the kids' old toys and cleaning out the hall closet netted us enough to trade Elmo and Power Rangers for a set of electric drums, guitar and a karaoke microphone.  What a deal!

The kids and adults from the neighborhood drop by to try their hand at being the next Hendrix and I find myself relieving stress from a long day by taking out on the drums and not the kids.  Gone are the days we play "Chutes and ladders".  I kinda miss the innocence of it all already. But watching the kids belt out Bon Jovi at the top of their lungs and shaking their heads like rock stars sure is priceless!
