Twin Mom Faux Pas - Burlesque Show At The Kindergarten Social
I always considered myself a twins mom that had it together, even making it through the preschool years with my twins boys in the right place at the right time. Then came Kindergarten and I decided to separate them into different classes because they have such different personalities. The phase of being able to put them on the same schedule and in the same classes had to come to an end. It was time for a change.
But it was at the Kindergarten parent social that I first experienced the change. We were supposed to wear the nametag of the teacher assigned so parents in the same class could meet. Instead of one nametag for one teacher, I had two nametags for each child's separate teacher. Without thinking, I put one sticker on each side of my chest and proceeded to proudly point to both sides while introducing myself. One of the Dad's gave me a strange (and somewhat embarrassing) look after I did my double chest point. It seems that type of introduction made me look like a belly dancer, stripper or worse -
A bad, minivan driving, out of shape, Josephine Baker wannabe burlesque dancer.
When really it was twins mom faux pas number 232 (I lost track of the first 231). For the rest of the night I wore both nametags on one side of my chest and held off on the pointing.
