Silicon Valley!!! Are you up to the Donors Choose Challenge?

Have you ever heard of Donors Choose? It's a fantastic program which raises money for very specific school program needs. In these days of slashed education budgets and curricula stripped of "extras" like music and art, it is up to those of us who can help to step up to the plate.

We at the Silicon Valley Moms Blog have been asked to join this years Blogger's Challenge whose goal is to drive even more donations to Donors Choose.

With the US economy in the tank and other countries following along, why should we ask you to contribute to this cause? Because Donors Choose helps children and teachers, and as moms we know that having a diverse education is critically important.

Would you like another reason?

Well, if you think it's bad that your child "only" has an art teacher come to their class twice a month, how about classrooms which don't have enough pencils. Or paper. Or chairs. Basic necessities which set a child in the right environment for learning.

Let kids see past the fact that their district is disadvantaged and allow them to discover how exciting and fun learning can be. Children who are excited for each new day and have their curiosity inspired and encouraged can grow up to be adults who shape our world for the better.

You can give as little as a dollar so please consider joining us. Yes, we want to raise a lot of money, but we'd also like to show off how many moms care about the education of all children and not just their own. So the total number of people participating in this challenge, no matter the size of your donation, is really important to us.

We'll be posting in more detail in the coming days about some of the specific projects which are dear to our hearts, but we'd also love to hear what matters to you. So speak up and use your voices and your wallets, and show everyone the Power of Mom.
