A Family Vacation In London
London is one of my all time favorite places in the world to visit, and our trips there have only got more fun since having kids. There are so many exciting sights to see and places to visit that we never have time to do it all in one trip. Here are our top picks for activities with kids in the UK’s capital.
No trip to London is complete without visiting what my kids like to call “Queen Liz’s house.” Buckingham Palace is easy to access by tube and is located right next to a beautiful park that’s perfect for picnics in the summer. Take the kids to see the changing of the guards and point out the flag that flies when the Queen is in residence.
This isn’t one for those of you with easily scared children or very small kids, but for older kids and families this is a lot of fun. The London Dungeon teaches you all about London’s dark side, with scary displays and rides along the way.
This zoo has been open to visitors since 1827, and while entry is a little expensive, it’s one of my favorite spots in the city. The zoo is full of rare animals and is a great place for kids, particularly on sunny days.
The London Eye is a relatively new addition to the city when compared with some of the other sights around. This humungous ferris wheel offers spectacular views over the Thames and thrills the whole family.
There are tons of awesome museums to visit in London, many of them free, but my kids’ top picks are the Science Museum and the neighboring Museum of Natural HIstory. The Science Museum is a hands-on, family friendly learning experience, while the Museum of Natural History has plenty of real dinosaur bones to keep the kids entertained.
