Christmas In NYC
When it comes to Christmas, nowhere is better than New York City. We travel to NYC every winter to visit my husband’s family, and every year it’s just as magical as ever. When you have a family, making the holidays feel special is extra important, and NYC is the perfect place to get the ultimate festive feeling.
See A Show
One of the best things to do in NYC during the holidays is the same thing you should do all year round in the Big Apple- go see a show. In the holidays, there are tons of festive offerings. By far the best one for kids is the classic Radio City Christmas Spectacular, where you can see the Rockettes kick sky-high and hear all the classic Christmas tunes. If you have children who love ballet, make sure you take them to The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center.
Hit The Ice
There are a few great ice rinks running all winter in NYC. Our top pick is the Rockefeller Center rink, where the whole family can skate below the humungous Christmas tree. The rink in the middle of Central Park is also a great choice- just make sure you grab some hot chocolate and visit the park’s famous carousel afterwards.
See The Sights
NYC is stunning during the holidays, so make sure you take in all the amazing decorations around the city. Head to 5th and 6th Avenue and you’ll see some beautiful light displays, and make sure you take a trip to all of the big department stores to view their window decorations- they’re always completely over the top and never disappoint.
For your big toy haul, there’s nowhere better than FAO Schwarz. This iconic toy store is just as much fun for your kids to play in as it is to shop in- just get there early to avoid the sometimes overwhelming crowds!
