There is a picture of my sons' grandmother hanging on the top of her stairs in the South Bay. The black and white photograph taken in the 1940's shows her sitting on the beach in a frilly white dress playing in the sand. In the background, you can see the boardwalk with men in suits and hats standing around talking. Boy, how times have changed.
As a child, one of my fondest memories includes the time we spent at our grandfather's cabin in Scotts Valley -- the jaunts to the beach and boardwalk were the highlight of the summer. I wish my grandpa was alive today so he could teach my boys how to fish off of the wharf just as he did when I was a littel girl.
Its so challenging to find time to with over-scheduled calendars to just "be" with your kids. I'd love the extra set of tickets so I could share the same memories with my children as I had as a child. I'd also love to re-create the photograph that is hanging on my Mom's wall - with my own boys.

The Silicon Valley Moms Blog started makeover contests as way to bring moms who deserve pampering with local, silicon valley businesses who are generous to donate services and products. This was the first of many we hope to do. We want to offer our a big THANKS to the businesses that generously donated services and products to our first makeover (all in Palo Alto, CA): Vivre, Romi Boutique, LaBelle Day Spas and Mantra Restaurant Lounge. With the recent tragic event of a drowning at Great America, there has been lots of talk about water safety.
